If she hasn't already, your baby may try feeding herself soon. She'll let you know about her new goal by grabbing a spoon and, eventually, guiding it into her mouth. If you can, let her experiment and ignore the mess. It's helping her to learn a new skill. You'll have to be patient because she won't conquer the art of feeding herself until after her first birthday. In the meantime you may want to let her join in with family mealtimes sometimes. Some couples prefer to feed their baby first and then have some time together. Like so many things in this first year, it's a question of deciding what suits your family best.
