For children of this age, the line between fantasy and reality is still blurry, which may explain a toddler's fondness for telling lies. Her intent isn't to deceive you; she actually wants to please you and she's figuring out what to say to make you happy — even if it isn't true. The best way to handle these little lies is to keep your anger or frustration in check. Instead of expecting a confession, act on what you know. For example, if she says she didn't draw with her crayons on the wall but you can see the marks, help her clean them up and point out that crayons are for colouring books and paper. Make it less scary for her to tell the truth and you'll help nip fibbing in the bud.
