This month
you may notice your child undressing herself, brushing her teeth without your
help and tenderly nursing her dolls and stuffed animals. She's learning how to
take care of herself -- and others -- and she'll refine this ability as she
gets older. Before you know it, she'll be tying her own shoelaces, making her
own breakfast and driving herself to the shops! In the meantime, it's up to you
to keep a watchful eye on your child as she tests her new skills. Unless she's
in danger of getting hurt, let her do things herself. Now more than ever, she's
learning that practice makes perfect.
